This is Halloween

This past Saturday was Halloween, and I decided I wanted a new costume this year. It started when I was at Disneyland. I really wanted to dress up as Goofy after seeing the big Goofy hat at Disneyland. So I thought about getting the hat and the gloves, then saw the price tag on them and realized I'd be spending $50 just on that, and still would need the rest of the costume. So I said no.

But when I came home, I still wanted a costume, so after checking the local Spirit store, and not finding anything I liked, I stopped by Party City and found the costume I wanted. It wasn't built for larger people, so I had to try it on. I loved it, even though it does kind of show my love handles... er, love handlebar, or love roll? It was fun to dress up and I enjoyed seeing everyone at a Halloween eve dance where 95% of people were dressed up, and on Halloween where I went to two ward parties, had dinner with friends, and went to another dance. It was good to be queen, as I was the Evil Queen from Snow White. After feeling down last weekend, it really helped lift my spirits.

I don't know these people. They just wanted a picture together. I don't know if Snow White and Prince Charming even knew each other.
These girls are so cute, and thanks to Lauren for letting me use her arm to hide an embarassing salsa spill
I like this shot because it makes my head seem smaller
I have a feeling I'll have a real disagreement with her later in life. Oh stepdaughters! Actually, I don't remember who's baby this is, but she really wanted me to take a picture with her daughter.

Hey, I'll take anyone who's interested. Oh wait, he doesn't exactly look excited. :(

Disneyland on my own

I got a season pass to Disneyland last Christmas time, and had gone twice, one right after Christmas, and for my birthday. I had planned on going either in April or September, let alone in the summer, but then I bought my house and had to deal with all of that. So, as I'm getting close to the end of the pass, and not sure yet if I'll renew it (I want to, of course), I decided I really wanted to go two more times, once for Halloween, and once for Christmas. So I took a couple of days off of work last week, in addition to the Columbus Day holiday I got to take, and went down to Disneyland. It was just by myself, but I'm good with that. I went by myself for Christmas, and it can be a great way to go - I could do whatever I wanted to! But I definitely want to go again soon with friends or family.

Travellin' Through the Corn Maze

This last Saturday Amy and I joined other 'midsingles' in going to the Dixon corn maze, http://www.coolpatchpumpkins.com/ First we went to Mary's Pizza Shack, but we were both too chicken to introduce ourselves to the group, so we ate on our own. We then met everyone at the maze and followed some people around. It was fun, and we got to know people enough to join them at Dennys afterwards. It was a lot of fun getting to know a bunch of new people. I really like true midsingles activities, because it gives me hope that there are some normal guys my age out there. Singles dances instead either have a lot of weird guys or much older guys.

The maze was a lot of fun. Evidently, it's the largest in the world. Amy and I got lost from the group once at the beginning of the maze and thought we might have to traverse the maze on our own, kind of defeating the purpose of going with the group, but luckily we met them again at the first station, Ducati station. I know I felt relieved, as I didn't bring a flashlight. Amy had one, but it ended up dying, even with new batteries. So we might have got stuck in there for awhile. And it's always more fun to be with a group of people.

I'm very glad we got to go on this little trip and meet midsingles at an event other than a dance. It was a lot of fun and I hope we get to hang out with them again soon.
